In everything Lynda Howard has done, the common denominator has been helping.
Lynda began her career in Columbus, Ohio as a social worker with Southwestern City Schools. When she decided to leave the school system, Lynda went to Jewish Family Services (JFS) for help in finding another job. Not only did she receive the help she needed, but she found an organization that was helping many people with all aspects of their lives and that appealed to her.
"I received a lot of help from my career counselor with my resume and interviewing skills," said Lynda, "and while I was in the job search process, an opening became available at Jewish Family Services. I was very excited because I really felt this was the right place for me."
With a redesigned resume and new skills for interviewing, Lynda applied for the position of Service Coordinator in the agency's Help Me Grow program. She was hired immediately.
Lynda is happy to be working with an organization that helped her attain a position where she can use her professional skills to help others. As a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Lynda spends a major portion of her time on home visits with parents with children ages, 0-3, educating and offering parenting solutions to enhance the family unit. The Help Me Grow program also helps identify developmental problems a child may have and alerts parents to resources for help.
"What is important to me is that Jewish Family Services reaches out to help anyone in need, you don't have to be Jewish," added Lynda.
"This makes me proud to be a staff member at Jewish Family Services."
